Food for Thought

this video is cute, well-made and makes an interesting point. but something about it rubs me the wrong way.

Whenever data is thrown around willy-nilly (some absolute, some relative, some growth, some percent, some $ figures, ... ) I get suspicious.

Plus, I've never really appreciated protectionism and the drive for self-sufficiency. It feels downright unethical as well as economically inefficient.

Buying local for environmental reasons is one thing but that doesn't translate into buying Canadian. They're trying to cover too many bases.

I was just thinking, that if you're buying Canadian food in Canada, it still may have travelled thousands of miles to get to you...
