Internationale Begegnung am Strausberger Platz

on the way to a party the other night, i was waiting at a very long traffic light with two other cyclists. the most recently arrived cyclist asked myself and the other cyclist in heavily russian-accented german if the subway stop right there was the u8. we both replied in not-quite-so-heavily accented german, that, no it was the u5, the u8 is that way at alexanderplatz. after the russian took off in the opposite direction to the one we had pointed him to, the other cyclist, who was asian, i don't know from where, and i shrugged our shoulders and discussed in german that actually the nearest u8 station was probably jannowitzbrücke.
