Planet Der Trauben!
galaktische weine. bodenständige preise.
galactic wines. down-to-earth prices.
the title and subtitle are on a giant ad for a hotel wine bar that's hung on a building i go by frequently. the ad puzzled me. i could tell they were referencing a sci-fi film but i couldn't figure it out until i translated it out loud (but in my head) - Planet of the Grapes!
i've been assured that a german would automatically think of Planet der Affen but i think it works much better in english. although it is punny.
this actually makes me feel kind of good about my fluency. i knew that "trauben" are those small somewhat spherical sweet fruit that you make "wein" with but i didn't automatically think "grapes". on the other hand i didn't make the connection to Planet der Affen. so yay for german fluency, boo for my german pop cultural fluency.

Kristin, have you noticed that our blog titles have been cut off at the top? I suspect our templates are too old school. :)
