Six weeks? That's a long time! Your phone is probably not a big deal because of your mobile (although you don't get great reception at home)... but no internet connection! I've realized that I depend on my connection for everything from getting in touch with people to checking movie times to even ordering food (which I did for the first time this week). It's a real pain when my connection or my computer are down for even as much as a day.
it's been crazy. you're right, the phone doesn't bother me but i'm dependent on my connection for almost everything else. i haven't really talked to my family in ages because calling my cell is prohibitively expensive and although i'm online all day, it usually doesn't work out with the time differences. and until last week my connection was dependent on having a phoneline. no one, neither building management, the construction manager, my provider, nor telekom could say who was responsible for having the telephone splitter put in for my building. i think maybe it was being put in this week but...
i finally just cancelled my contract and ordered everything for cable. it ends up being cheaper (except for the penalty i paid for breaking my contract with my old provider). it may take up to 6 weeks because at the moment there is high demand for cable internet and the cable guy has to come and switch the cable box. at least i know SOMETHING is happening, instead of everyone saying it's someone else's problem.
