Last Week

this is my last week at the company i've been working for for the last four years. there really isn't much for me to do, a little paper work here and there. i'm up to date on all my news and blogs although i'm procrastinating as usual on answering email that's been collecting dust in my inbox.

today i came across an article in the guardian about colour photographs commissioned by the u.s. government in the early 1940's. it's a little trippy seeing colour pictures from that era. they impressed me enough that i wanted to share it. i'd read about this particular propaganda project before, although i didn't know about the colour photos. this favourite quote comes to mind: "uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. we're fine. we're all fine here now, thank you. how are you?"

Just have to comment that I was completely thrown by the ambiguity of the title, and felt vaguely betrayed that it didn't mean what I expect it to mean.

English sucks. :)

Those photos are truly amazing, and in addition, there´s something I consider remarkable - they look somewhat fake. They look like they were taken from a modern day´s movie set in the forties. I guess that´s we´re so used to everything up to 1950 being in black/white we just subconsciously feel that in those times life must have actually been black and white...
Anyway, great to come here and find out you´re there already!

Congrats on getting through with it and Nueremberg. Good luck with the new position.
