Kristin Recommends - Babette's Feast

"babette's feast" was one of the first films that i saw when i was discovering non hollywood movies. i rented it from that little video shop on baldwin- the shop always made great suggestions and definitely helped kindle my interest in movies. "babette's feast" is a danish movie and as i learned on the weekend, based on a short story by isak dinesen who also wrote "out of africa". the movie is very true to the short story, as far as i can remember. i saw the film in '96 or '97 and read the short story on the weekend, since gina had it on hand. i also found out that isak dinesen is karen blixen's pen name and that she is featured on the 50 kroner bill in a very fetching hat.
